Big Bad Wolf Sharjah, a joint venture between the Sharjah Book Authority and the largest book sale in the world, will be hosting a twelve-day book sale event in Kenya from December 14 to 25 at the Sarit expo center in Westlands. This event, dubbed the biggest Christmas book sale in Kenya, will feature over 500,000 books and 15,000 different titles with discounts of up to 95%.
The sale will primarily focus on children’s books, including board books, sound books, picture books, and story books, but will also have a selection of books for young adults to adults, including fiction and non-fiction novels, Sci-fi, self-help, cookbooks, coffee table books, and romance.
“We have more than 600 titles priced between Sh100 – Sh400. The majority of the books are for children, particularly activity books. However, there will also be a category for young adults to adult books,” said Bradley Heslop, the Kenyan representative of Big Bad Wolf Sharjah.
Big Bad Wolf originated in Malaysia in 2009 with Andrew Yap and Jacqueline Ng as the founders. Their primary mission was to change the world one book at a time, cultivate reading habits, increase English literature and build a new generation of readers. The key purpose was to make books inclusive, accessible, and affordable to everyone. In 2019, they partnered with Sharjah Book Authority as a joint venture.

They have been able to go to 15 countries and 37 cities with an aim of growing to larger markets. People have had the opportunity to access millions of books and up to 700,000 attendees in a ten-day event. Big Bad Wolf Sharjah is working with the Miss Koch Kenya organization to supply them with books relevant to their mission and will be matching donations made during the event.
In partnership with Miss Koch, a local non-governmental organization (NGO), the Big Bad Wolf Sharjah Christmas book sale will donate 500 books to the organization. Miss Koch works to promote literacy and education among disadvantaged children in Nairobi, and the donation of books will help further their mission.
The Big Bad Wolf Sharjah book sale is known for offering incredible discounts on books, with prices as low as 95% off the retail price. In addition to the book donations, the Big Bad Wolf Sharjah Christmas book sale will also feature special events and activities for book lovers of all ages. There will be book-themed games and activities for children.
The sale will be held at the Sarit expo center in Nairobi, and it is open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to come and browse the selection of books, enjoy the festive atmosphere, and support the important work of Miss Koch.
