Artist Statement
My lifelong pursuit of creative expression drives me to share my own unique versions of the world I see and feel. Sometimes my work expresses beauty in the mundane and the overlooked, other times it holds up a mirror to the horrors and the ugliness. I use my work to question, honor, celebrate, suggest, create awareness and tell stories . I like to maintain a level of uniqueness in my work and though my interpretation of each subject may be different, I deploy a bit of classical and contemporary techniques to create my translations.
Evidence of strokes and markings are apparent in my works as I try to avoid my paintings being mistaken for photographs. I am generally open to working with other mediums but I find Oils and Pastels are perfect for my approach because of their rich pigments and versatility.
